About the Reusa-Can Project
About the founder Gerry Evans
Gerry Evans first started in business in 1973-1980 and formed the
first company to get a government contract removing asbestos from
buildings. He then set up his second company in 1980 designing
valves and other equipment for the water industry, During that period
he was runner up in the Tomorrows World Competition in 1987 for
Innovation and Production and was runner up in the water industries
Hydro Awards in 1995 for Outstanding Achievement in the field of
Water Quality Improvement.
Having retired in 1996 and taking an interest in garden birds he
gradually, over a period of three years, came around to the idea
of refurbishing cans having put fat blocks in them for some time
and thinking of different ways of marketing them. He believe
s that this concept is the most important design of his career.
Gerry Evans acknowledges the help and support his long-standing
friend Graham Cole Director of C&T Engr. Weston-super-Mare who
has done all the basic engineering to prove that the project will
work. Without his help the project would never have reached
this stage.
